Memorial Day weekend is the official start of summer, so why is my heat still coming on in the morning? Lucky for us, Memorial Day itself was beautiful and warm. As I stood there at the train station, listening to the speeches with my fellow legionnaires, I was thinking, "This is a good turnout, but I see mostly the same faces". Maybe next year we could add a few more SAL faces.
I know all of us in the SAL think of Memorial Day as one of those "special days" and remember why we became members in the first place. Our officers for 2009 are as follows, Sam Leonardi - SrVice, Jay Reynolds - JrVice, Joe Reiplinger - Secy/Treasurer, John Marker - Adjutant.
This weekend was also the 92nd running of the Indy 500. We need to think of our membership as a race to reach 100% for next year. I think quite a few members are "out of sequence" with their renewals. I have noticed that many of you are settling up at the end of the year, not the beginning. Remember, our year ends in June. Lets all try to get on the "Lead Lap" for 2009.
